RE: Bolivia

Pretty sure it JP had said to one of the attendees at a presentation pre Fiona joining that this was always going to be a game of wait and see with the two adjacent drills then punt it on to Shell or the another major, bearing in mind Parsons spent a lot of time in LATAM when he was with Shell

Also IIRC the repsol drill is targeting 3.5 tcf in the boyuy structure but it’s around 7,000m deep

I have looked and it would appear that a well in Bolivia would cost $40M+ and take over a year to drill.
That does not seem to fit into Echo's stated DNA.
Better we use our technical ability, as in Argentina and add more certainty to the project and then bail out with a tidy profit.
25% of a well, at $10M would fund 2 Tapi Aike wells with TCF potential and give us 50% rather than 25% of the action and be completed in say a month rather than 12+ months.

Just a Saturday afternoons musings!?!

RE: Bolivia

totally agree Joe, hope shell and or repsol drill comes in about February then sell it :-) what did Fiona say ? about 1.75 TCF in the structure? that's also massive.....

RE: Bolivia

I can’t see us drilling in Bolivia. I think the wells take about 18 months due to the very hard rocks and I don’t think that would fit in well with our 2-4 year journey. I believe the thinking here is to hope that the drills nearby come up trumps and to ‘prove’ up as much as we can through seismic and sell to a much bigger player, like Shell or Resol, hopefully for a tidy profit. I just don’t think it fits our profile.

Did wonder if the ELA 1 sidetrack might be tied up with the cash in hand Ms Fi mentioned.

RE: Echo Tweet

Hi Bigideas

You are very kind.
Echo seem to have "lucked in" on a terrific portfolio.
But when you have a high quality team, luck does seem to follow.

Like everybody else, several of our recently drilled wells appear to have the possibility of "cash generation," given that the stimulation exercise goes well. There is also the possibility of a side track being done on another well, chasing an accumulation. I am happy with progress, there is no such thing as a "slam dunk," rarely do operations in exploration go as one might wish, but we do have the chance of additional production over the coming months. And if those prospective revenues add to the pot for drilling elsewhere, that can only be a big fat plus!!
Some would do well to remember that we are still in the embryonic stages of Echo, being a exploration company there must be disappointments ahead of us but I am confident that the company has a great future ahead of it!!

bobby

As you imply $5M is a terrific deal when the possibility of TCF quantities are on offer.
Having watched (again) that video, a question struck me.
The Repsol well, currently being drilled has been ongoing for a quite a while.
Does anybody know what the quantity of hydrocarbons they are targeting and what is the cost of their well?
Does anybody know what Echo's share of a well on our prospective block might cost?

Argentina : Significant Hydrocarbons Interpreted in EMS-1001

Â

Echo Energy plc, the Latin American focused upstream oil and gas company, is pleased to announce a significant light oil column has been interpreted in its third well, onshore Argentina.

Â

The EMS-1001 well, located in the Fraccíon C licence operated by Compan~i´a General de Combustibles S.A. ("CGC"), reached a total depth of 2460m in the Upper Jurassic Tobifera formation across which significant gas and hydrocarbon shows were recorded.

Â

Preliminary wireline log evaluation has now been completed, and a very significant hydrocarbon column has been interpreted between 1722m and 2220m in the Tobifera Formation. If hydrocarbon saturations across this section are confirmed, the preliminary evaluation might represent an interval of some 500m which could significantly open up the play for the area.

Â

A final production casing is now being run prior to suspending the well for testing and the Company now anticipates the arrival of the test rig to the licences in July following completion of its current work programme elsewhere in the basin. The rig

RE: Echo Tweet

Hi Wizard

Just another quick link where Fiona stated about 3 million on a 'dry hole' basis to drill TA. Obviously we don't know yet as depends on depth etc but don't care if it costs 5 million if we hit 500million worth of gas !! :-)
