RE: But

I admit I’m surprised that Jabba and Mr. Magawber have gone to such lengths, and such expense to their respective companies, to ensure the merger goes through. The result may be a horlicks but it’s the shareholders who’ll suffer, not them. I’m also surprised that everyone takes all this guff at face value before the detail is revealed. I’d wait for Lonmin’s final results in late November, when we should know how many employees have been terminated and how much remains to be spent on redundancy payments. This refinancing smacks of panic to me. I wonder whether the Sibanye shareholders will see through it. In any case, they’ve got the December quarter to get through yet. They’ll be lucky if the furnaces manage to last intact until new year too, they usually have a disaster every twelve months or so..

RE: Sibanye

In all fairness Rastuss, with regards to Lonmin literally you state that every quarter will be bad. Lonmin has $114m net cash and some more to come soon... It's rather disappointing that you have to constantly see the negative and not the positive.
The cop for this quarter at R11,617 was better than most thought and the management have learnt that it is better to not over promise which they were guilty of in the past. It is encouraging that they have over delivered on what they previously set out. Onwards and upwards...

RE: Sibanye

It’s true the deal looks more likely to go through now but at what a price! All this guff on here about Sibanye getting a wonderful deal! The price Lonmin is paying (=15-16% interest) is like going to Wonga for a loan. You only do it if you’re desperate. The current quarter must be looking particularly bad. Those philanthropic sportsmen at GS think it’s a great deal!! I wonder if Jabba will manage to keep a straight face when he recommends the merger to his shareholders when they vote. We won’t know about the redundancy schedule until late November. I imagine Lonmin are way behind with it. You’re getting Sibanye shares when the merger finalises. It would not be surprising if the terms of this refinancing wieigh on them over the next few weeks. Who know though. Good luck!!

RE: Sibanye

Getting a great deal imo

Investment cash $23 mill
Net cash $114 mill
$50 mill streaming deal (less $150 mill loan inc)
$20 mill Japan company holding

Lonmin will have $150-160 mill net cash after the 1st qtr 2019 imho...TBH the deal would be better going through at a higher SP 80-100

Chinese investment in platinum is the bit that really caught my attention TBH
