RE: Big hint in this article eh?

Don’t forget, Rio owned Cascabel (Parambas) 40-50 years ago.

Will they come back for a second bite??

RE: Big hint in this article eh?

Brenton Saunders, an analyst with Sydney-based fund manager Pendal Group, said Newcrest was more likely a buyer than a target.

“My sense is they want to buy something - not small, but manageable - more of a single asset somewhere in the Americas.”

Newcrest spokesman Chris Maitland told Reuters, “If we can see an asset where we can ... use one of our competitive advantages to increase the value of that asset, that’s how we’d approach M&A.”

Newcrest, which has expertise in a type of mining called blockcaving, is vying with BHP Group (BHP.AX) (BHPB.L) as major stakeholders in Ecuador’s SolGold (SOLG.L).

Tks Pad- the report is a year out of date-it looks similar in likening this to recent Vegan activity by left wing radicals who with the best will in the world clearly are behind the times as far as Solgold due diligence with local communities is concerned.

80% of on the ground staff are Ecuadorian at Cascabel.

Its an issue of course but I am pretty darn sure the BOD has this matter in hand having such close ties to the Mining ministry and above.

Hi Strider,

Despite the dual listing we are subject to the UK takeover code (as stated on the company website): http://www.thetakeoverpanel.org.uk/the-code/download-code

This stipulates that if a company, group or individual reaches 30% ownership then a cash offer must be made at at least the highest price paid in the preceding 12 months.

Just tried it again and the problems had magically disappeared.
To be honest, I'm none the wiser, but that's probably due to stupidity.
